Westfield, Indiana: Home of Grand Park (Photos)

Westfield, Indiana - Home of Grand ParkWe’ve been spending our nights and weekends at Westfield, Indiana’s new home for youth sports for a few months now, but Grand Park officially celebrated their grand opening this weekend. There was live music, a ferris wheel, games and activities for kids, and (of course) youth sports all day long.

We started our day with our son’s baseball tournament, and the hubby and I went back again that night for a fun evening in the new heart of Westfield. The baseball diamonds are beautifully lit at night. The turf soccer/football/lacrosse fields are gorgeous. And, the dream of a premier destination for youth sports is officially a reality.

Here are a few photos from our weekend at Grand Park. This is where you will find me every Saturday in the spring. Also? Sometimes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This week there is potential for all of the above as we finish out the last double elimination tournament, but at least we’re shaded well in the bleachers.

Normally, the concession stands are filled with typical stadium fair like popcorn, nachos, and soda. For the grand opening celebration, Lot C was filled with fair foods. Including lemon shakeups, naturally.

There was live music and entertainment every night this weekend, as Westfield kicked off the official opening of Grand Park in style.

The Ferris Wheel closed early due to rain last night, so I missed out on the chance to see my town from above. But it was pretty to look at from the ground, at least.

With 10 lots throughout the sports complex, there is ample parking near wherever you’re headed. Team spirit optional (but highly recommended).

There are several ponds around Grand Park, including this one at the future site of the championship soccer and baseball fields.

The multi-sport fields on the west side of the park feature soccer, football, and lacrosse. Yesterday, funding was also announced for a $20-million indoor soccer facility.

There are 26 diamonds on the east side of the park for softball and baseball. Local recreational leagues as well as travel teams from all over the midwest have already been enjoying the facilities for the spring season.
