CNN’s Money Magazine took a look at small towns across the U.S. in 2013, looking not only for those with thriving economies, but those that were ideal places to raise a family.
Plenty of “green space,” great schools and a strong sense of community were cited as top factors in deciding America’s top 50 small towns. In the end, Westfield, Indiana claimed the 18th spot on the top-50 list of best small towns.
Several projects were cited as reasons for why Westfield is a great town on the rise, the biggest of which is the $45 million Grand Park project, which when complete, will offer 26 baseball diamonds, 31 multi-purpose fields for soccer, field hockey, football, lacrosse and rugby; and 2 enormous indoor facilities for training and off-season sports. The completed project is expected to contribute to the city’s economic growth through the creation of jobs and tourism.
Another project cited was Grand Junction Park and Plaza, a huge mixed-use development that is envisioned as the new focal point of downtown Westfield. The project will offer residential, commercial and retail space; an amphitheater, and a great lawn gathering place for concerts, festivals, etc.
These developments, when complete, will only add to the list of things that make this city such a great place to live and work. One of the best small towns in America? No disagreement here.
